The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is planning to introduce a smart-phone based payment system for payments. At first this may be introduced on the Delhi Metro’s Airport Express Line.
As per reports, the commuters will be able to pay for their ride through QR codes generated on their registered smartphones. This move will help saving time in queues and also carrying the plastic smart card.
Trials have been already conducted for the implementation of the new service and the automatic fare collection gates will also accept QR code payments apart from the existing smart cards and tokens.
The DMRC is also planning to modify the automatic fare collection system gates for all stations that fall under the Airport Express Line.
According to DMRC officials, passengers will be able to use Bharat QR Code for all payments while travelling on the Airport Express Line.
Passengers who want to use the Bharat QR code must download the application on their mobiles to pay for the journey. And then link their bank account with the app and generate a QR code.
