Facebook has been taking extensive steps to protect the privacy of its users. In its latest efforts , facebook has cut off API access for ‘’hundreds of thousands of inactive apps”.
Facebook has introduced a new review process , checking each and every app and the service that used facebook and the data of the users on the service. Facebook had earlier set the deadline as August 1 st for developers to get their app reviewed.
The company identified numerous apps which were inactive and had not submitted the software for the review. Such apps accesing to Platform API were cut off by Facebook.
The company has taken these steps to protect the data of its users in the wake of Cambridge Analytica Scandal.
Facebook has stated that the developers will not lose their API access while their app is in the queue for review, or while Facebook is in the process of reviewing the app
