Colombia’s Conservative Ivan Duque Marquez sworn in as the 60th President of Colombia on Tuesday. He succeded Juan Manuel Santos, who had been in power since 2010.

The 42-year old former Senator defeated Gustavo Petro with 54 percent vote in a presidential run-off in June. He took oath at Bolivar square in the historic centre of Bogota. It is expected that the cabinet of Duque will consists largely of little- known technocrats, with equal number of men and women.
