The low-lying areas in the Ernakulam districts are under water as the shutters of Cheruthoni , Idamalayar and idukki dams were opened. Aluva Manappuram is also submerged in the water on the eve of ‘Karkidaka Vavu’. Usually people from different parts of the state come to Aluva Manppuram for Balitharpana Karmam.
As the shutters of Idukki and Idamlayar dam are open the water level in the region might not reduce on Saturday . So,the rituals which was performed in the Manappuram will be shifted to a higher platform.
The balitharpana karma will be performed from 4 am to noon on Saturday. There were preparations to set up 121 balitharas on the banks of river.
Similar situation was happened in 2013 when the Idamalayar dam was opened. Then, the rituals was performed on the Manappuram road.
