
Customer’s rushed to IKEA’s first store in India which is inaugurated at Hyderabad on Thursday. IKEA is a Swedish multinational company which designs and sells furnitures, home appliances and kitchen appliances.
Massive crowd entered the store on the opening day, it was stampede like situation. People were in long queues which resulting in huge traffic that made Hyderabad’s IT hub to a grinding halt on Thursday evening.
Though the shoppers began flowing into the store from the opening time at 10am, the numbers swelled and crowd continued in the store till the closing time 11pm.
John Achillea, IKEA’s Managing Director for Telangana had said, “I am so excited today, we can see so many customers visiting in the building. It’s just a phenomenal feeling. We have every product under one roof, so whether you are looking for a sofa, bed, children’s furniture, or home accessories for every room, it’s all under one roof.”
IKEA has stores in more than 49 countries. The store would house 7500 products.
The customers shared their anxiety after visiting the world-renowned furniture retail chain. They said that, they had heard lot about it and was waiting from six months for the store to be opened.
IKEA ‘s next outlet will be at Navi Mumbai in 2019, followed by Bengaluru and Delhi.
