The water level in the Idukki Cheruthoni reservoir has decreased slightly. It was 2,401.72ft and now it reached 2,400.88 ft but, still the water gushes out at 7.5 lakh litres per second. Officials said that the shutters will be closed only if it reaches 2,400 ft.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan along with his team has visited flood affected areas of Wayanad. His team landed in Sulthan Bathery and visited the rehabilitation camp.
CM was accompanied by the Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, Kerala Police Chief Loknath Behra , Chief secretary Tom Jose and additional chief secretary( revenue) P.H. Kurien.
Chief Minister’s team was supposed to visit Idukki but, the helicopter could not land at Kattapana due to the bad weather conditions .
The rain created havoc in the state. About 54,000 people became homeless and they all are settled in rehabilitation camps. Atleast 29 people were killed in the state due to rain related accidents and floods.
