Finally Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) has ended up the rumours regarding the Captaincy of Virat Kohli. RCB clarified that Virat will continue as the captain for the next season of the T20 league.
Earlier, reports suggested that the team had replaced Virat Kohli with AB de Villiers, and in order to stop the rumours, a team spokesperson pointed that “We can clarify on record that the news is incorrect and Virat Kohli is very much the captain of RCB for the next season as well,”
In the year 2013,Virat was appointed as the full-time captain of RCB, though he had led the team as a vice-captain after being retained by the team ahead of 2011 auction. However the team hasn’t been able to win a title under his captaincy but in 2016 RCB reached the finals but failed to chase down the target against Sunrises Hyderabad.
Other players to be hold on by the franchise include AB de Villiers and Sarfaraz Khan. Virat broke all the records ahead of the IPL matches as he was paid Rs 17 crore, which was the highest amount ever paid to a player in the history of the tournament.
