Reportedly, the brother of the Kerala nun who alleges that Bishop of Jalandhar raped said that he was offered a bribe of Rs 5 crore if the complaint is withdrawn.
Two other priests along with a relative of Franco Mulakkal approached the nun’s brother and conveyed the message that they are willing to pay an amount of Rs.5 crore if the nun withdraws her complaint against the bishop.
Today, a high-level meeting will be held ahead of tomorrow’s hearing at Kerala HC. A summon, is likely to be issued against the bishop and to decide about the arrest of Bishop will be discussed in the meeting.
Already, the Kerala HS has asked the police to detail steps taken in the investigation of rape case. Even, the court had asked for the details of provisions made for the protections of nuns.
Already, the nun has written to Vatican alleging that the bishop is using “political and money power” to bury the case. In her letter to Giambattista Diquattro, Vatican’s Apostolic Nuncio, the nun alleged that by continuing Franco Mulakkal and his associates “are using the wealth of the diocese to divert” the police investigation
However, the bishop have denied all the allegations.
