On Thursday, the Kerala High Court pointed that there is no need for Central Investigation Team to investigate the rape charges made by the nun against the Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal at this point.
The court also noted that it is up to the decision of the police whether to arrest the Bishop. The court added that it will take time to gather the evidence so those who seeking the arrest of the Bishop should be patient.
The court pointed that there should be an independent investigation and the rights of the accused Bishop should also have to be protected. After examining the report submitted by the Kerala police, a division bench comprising the chief justice said that the case will be considered again on September 24.
The government pointed the court that the arrest of the Bishop can be made only after the interrogation and noted that the investigation is progressing in five states. Also the government added that the government can interfere in the case in case of emergency.
