Bollywood star Vivek Oberoi expressed his opinion regarding the entry of women to Sabarimala. The actor is a firm believer of Lord Ayyappa, who visits Sabarimala every year. He has been visiting the temple for 18 years.
“ In Sabarimala there is only one big boss which is Lord Ayyappa, whatever Ayyappa will decide it will happen, its my belief, I have been going there 18 years . As far as the emotions associated with women empowerment and rights of women which is where it started, I want to say that for the last 16 years I have been working for women empowerment , I run three schools which rescue girls from child prostitution, we give them free food, free education and free health care, I am truly a believer in women empowerment”, said Vivek Oberoi while speaking to our reporter Rakesh Kallely.
He further added, “ But when it comes to this point my only wish is that, I wish how much energy, time, efforts the NGOs, the people women rights organizations, the media, how much energy everybody has put into this whether women can be allowed to Sabarimala or not, this country needs more of that energy towards how do we get our girls into schools, how do we built toilets for girls that they don’t have to go to bathroom in open air”
He also said that for the women empowerment our people, organisation and media should focus on helping women from rape and abuses and shouldn’t be towards such issues. Such issues are either political, or to gain media mileage.
“Save these girls first that is real women empowerment, that is real womens’ rights”.
According to him for the women empowerment, there are many other issues to be solved and women empowerment must not be focused in such issues.
Vivek Oberoi was in the city for the press meet of the film Lucifer, which is directed by Actor Prithviraj and starring Superstar Mohan Lal and Manju Warrior in pivotal roles.
