Polling for the first phase of municipal elections in 422 wards began on Monday morning in Jammu & Kashmir. In the four phased election . In the four phased elections, the first phase began on 7 am on Monday morning.
In the first phase, already 78 were elected unopposed and among them 69 are from valley.
According to the Election Commission, about 1284 candidates will be contesting in the 422 muncipal wards today. 820 polling stations were setup across the state. In that 150 stations were designated to Kashmir division and 670 were designated to Jammu division.
The first phase of voting which began on 7 am morning will end at 4 pm. The counting of votes will be on October 20.
