Recently, Saudi Arabia’s new high-speed railway opened to the public. Now on the Muslim pilgrims and other travellers have the high-speed railway between Mecca and Medina.
The new high-speed railway namely Haramain high speed rail system will transport the passengers 450 kilometres via the Red Sea port of Jeddah at a speed of 300 km per hour.
As per reports, two daily services are planned and two trains each carrying 417 passengers will be departed from Mecca and Medina at 8am(0500GMT).
The transport officials described the new rail system as the biggest transportation project in the region and it had reduced the travel between Mecca and Medina from several hours to 120 minutes. According to reports, the new rail project was built at a cost of more than $16 billion.
