Beer is the most popular alcoholic drink in the world, but here is a sad news to all the beer lovers, your favourite drink is going to be more scarce and pricey. The recent climate change has poised to have serious impact on the beer production. Barley, the main ingredient is sensitive to extreme drought and heat
Global warming will lead to sharp decline in the barley yields, which will in turn result in the rise of price of beer. Only the highest quality grain (less than 20%) is used to make beer, rest is used as feedstock.
“If you don’t want that to happen — if you still want a few pints of beer — then the only way to do it is to mitigate climate change,” said lead author Dabo Guan.
If you crave for a pint of beer at the end of a hard day, work together to mitigate climate change.
