Atleast four people, including a CISF jawan were killed after Maoists triggered an improvised explosive device (IED) on a bus at Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district on Thursday.
The attack has come just days ahead of the first phase of voting for the 18 assembly constituencies, which will go to polls on November 12th. These 18 constituencies are mainly the Naxal-affected areas.
Three civilians and a soldier of Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) were killed in the attack. The civilians died includes bus driver, conductor and the cleaner of the bus.
Reportedly, the bus targeted by the Maoists were deployed for election duty. The CISF unit was posted in the area for the election duty. It is claimed that the incident happened in the hilly region of Bacheli area in Dantewada, when the security personnel were going back to the camp after buying the groceries.
The two phase of Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh are scheduled on November 12 and November 20.
