Kerala Police arrested BJP leaders including B. Radhakrishnan and seven others for violating prohibitory orders at Nilackal on Sunday.
The Police instructed BJP leaders to leave Sabarimala within six hours. However, they refused to obey the instructions and staged protest at the Nilackal- Pamba road.
Kerala has been witnessing various protests since September 28 after the Supreme court’s verdict on allowing the women of all ages to enter the Sabarimala shrine. The right wing activists and Ayyappa devotees are protesting against Kerala government for implementing Supreme court’s verdict.
Prohibitory orders have been prevailing in Sabarimala from the beginning of “Mandala masam”. Frequent protests and restrictions imposed by Police has kept the Ayyappa devotees away from visiting the temple. Comparitively the number of devotees visiting the temple is low from the previous years.
On Suday morning, a four member delegation formed by BJP Chief Amit Shah held discussions with the Kerala BJP leaders on matters related to Sabarimala in Kochi. The body was formed to hand over the report regarding the ongoing agitations prevailing in Sabarimala. The 4 member body will submit the report within 15 days.
