Telangana Police arrested State Congress Working President Revanth Reddy from his residence on Tuesday morning.
He was arrested ahead of the K Chandrashekara Rao’s public meeting in Kosgi after he threatened to obstruct the meeting. Hundreds of Police officers surrounded his residence, broke his door and arrested him.
Along with him 50 of his followers were also arrested and shifted to an unknown place.
Two days ago Revanth Reddy called for bandh in Kodangal on December 4th and also threatened to stage protest against K Chandrashekara Rao during a public programme. Later, he withdrew the bandh but urged his followers to continue the protest against K Chandrashekara Rao.
The Telangana Rashtriya Samithi members complained against Mr. Reddy to Chief Electoral Officer. However, a Senior Police Official informed that Revanth Reddy was arrested on the orders of Election Commission as a preventive measure and to maintain peace in the meeting. The official also said that he was shifted to a safe place.
