On Friday, Delhi High Court rejected the plea filed by CBI’s Special Director Rakesh Asthana to cancel the bribery case against him.
The new decision comes after Alok Verma was removed from his post as CBI chief by the selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As per reports, the court ordered the CBI to conclude investigation against Asthana and Devender Kumar in 10 weeks.
The court also added that, “No doubt, registration of an FIR against a public servant will be a cause of great concern and stress for the public servant. Charges under the FIR are a matter of investigation. It is important that law presumes a person is innocent until proven guilty,”
Asthana was charged for criminal conspiracy, corruption and criminal misconduct under the sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
