On Friday, Alok Verma who was removed as CBI director has resigned from service and refused to take charge as chief of Fire Services after he was removed by the selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Verma,who was transferred to Director General Fire Services, Civil Defence and Home Guard had claimed that he was transferred on the basis of false and frivolous and unsubstantiated allegations.

Verma claims that he was not given the opportunity to explain the details as recorded by the CVC before coming to a decision. Also he added that “The decisions made yesterday will not just be a reflection on my functioning but will become a testimony on how the CBI as an institution will be treated by any government through the CVC,”

As per reports, eight charges were against Verma in the CVC report and it included the attempts to induct tainted officers, and the compromising probe related to Moin Qureshi.
