Former Supreme Court Judge, Justice A K Patnaik who was assigned to supervise the reported corruption investigations by the Central Vigilance Commission against Alok Verma, has pointed that there is no evidence of bribery charges against Verma.
Justice Patnaik also said that the removal of Alok Verma by the selection committee headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was a very hasty decision. Also he added that the inquiry against Verma was entirely on the basis of the complaint made by CBI special director Rakesh Asthana.
On Friday, Verma refused to take up his new post and sent his resignation to the government. In his resignation, Verma pointed that, “ Natural justice was scuttled and the entire process was turned upside down in ensuring that the undersigned is removed from the post of the director.”
