Hours after the maoist leader CP Jaleel was killed in an encounter, the family members of Jaleel claims the encounter as fake and they demanded a judicial probe into the matter.
CP Jaleel was killed in a gunfight with Police in Wayanad district. The incident happened around 9:30 pm on Wednesday in a private resort in Lakkidi. His brother CP Rasheed alleged that Jaleel was taken to the forest and shot by the Police.
“Only the Police version has heard yet. The Police said that the encounter began at night and extended till today morning. Despite sustaining injuries he was not taken to the hospital. His death was confirmed on morning 4 am. But we are allowed to see his body in afternoon. We fear that he might have been caught by the Police and killed,” said Rasheed while speaking to media.
As per the sources, a group of five armed naxals including CP Jaleel intruded into Upavan resort and demanded the people for money and food. When the hotel staff refused to give it, they took some guests as hostages.
The hotel staff immediately informed the Police, which led to a gunfire between the Maoists and Police. The fight continued till the wee hours of Thursday morning.
Police and Thunderbolt forces have camped near the area and the search operations are still underway. Kannur range IG visited the place and conducted a higher officials meet.
