On Saturday, Communist Party of India-Marxist announced their poll candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The candidates list was announced by party state chief Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. The announced list of candidates has only one new face and also it includes two women.
The list includes six sitting MPs, four sitting MLAs, three MLAs, two former MPs. The list of candidates includes two women, PK Sreemathi, who is the sitting MP from Kannur and Veena George from Pathanamthitta, a sitting MLS from Aranmula.
While announcing the list, Balakrishnan said that “We have to win maximum seats this time. So we have fielded four legislators. Winability is the sole criteria. Allies are not upset and we have convinced them about the need of the hour,”
The list also includes two controversial candidates, P Jayarajan in Vadakara and P V Anwar from Ponnani. P Jayarajan is an accused in two political murders and Anwar is also facing land-grabbing charges.
In the north side of the state, Kasargode, K P Satheesh Chandran has replaced the sitting MP PKarunakaran who had won the seat for past three terms. PK Sreemati has been re-nominated in Kannur and MLA A Pradeep Kumar in Kozhikode.
The list includes, MB Rajesh in Palakkad, P K Biju in Alathur and A Sampath in Attingal. Likewise, actor Innocent was re-nominated in Chalakudy. As per reports, Congress and BJP lists are expected to come on next week.
